Arkansas teenager killed in head-on collision

Tuesday, June 15, 2004

SENATH, Mo. -- An Arkansas teenager was killed in a head-on collision at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, June 13, one mile west of Senath.

The victim was identified as Robert E. Coble, 16, of Paragould, Ark., by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Coble was traveling west on U.S. 412 when his 1993 Ford Mustang crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into a 2002 International tractor driven east by Galen L. Hodge 40, of Sage, Ark., the patrol said.

Coble was pronounced at the scene at 4:20 p.m. by Dunklin County Coroner Jack Adkins. His body was taken to the morgue at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Hodge was not injured in the collision, according to the Highway Patrol report.

His tanker spilled a quantity of fuel onto the highway, which was cleaned up by a Haz-Mat team from the Kennett Fire Department.

The crash was investigated by Patrol Cpl. N.T. Bratton, major crash team member Cpl. T. Pulley and assisted by Commercial Vehicle Officers L. Sheehy and M. McKinley.
